Testimony: “What an amazing 20 days! We could not have asked for more. This was our first trip to Turkey and Mehmet with Ankar Travel definitely made the trip worth it. Our airport transfers, hotel accommodations, in-country flights, activities and meals were all included. The itinerary was clearly outlined, and any last minute changes that needed to be made were handled quickly and professionally. We were also able to select the cities that we wanted to visit. The overall journey included the cities and surrounding areas of Istanbul, Troy, Gallipoli, Kusadasi, Cappadocia, Antalya, and Pamukkale. My wife and I went on a 2 week holiday to mykonos, santorini, athens, istanbul, cappodocia and kusadasi from April 29 to May 13. The whole trip was organised by Anker Travels Kusadasi, Turkey. Cicek Bozkurt was our adviser from the firm. She did a fantastic job of organising all aspects of the trip including hotels, air/ ferry tickets and the sightseeing trips. In spite of we having to reschedule our trip due to unavoidable reasons at the last minute, she made all efforts to prevent any snag through out the entire trip. Good morning Cicek,Sorry not to replay you before about our trip, it has been fantastic and you have coordinate every thing perfect.
Samos has been very nice, quiet and very familiar. I think it can be a good destination for future trips, Samos and all island around. The best place in Samos is Pytagoreo port, all the other villages are not so nice.
Istanbul and Efeso are always nice and has been good for kids, they have discover cultural facts and also good Turkish food.
Do you think Samos hotel Doryssa can be cheaper in June or September???.
Do you know Turkish Golletes for rent, charter, with crew???.
I’m thinking about next year holidays.

My holiday @honeymoon was wonderful and I cannot say thank you Enough.. it was awesome .. all the room arrangement was superb with so strategic location for us to walk around in the evening ..the room at Santorini,and the cave hotel was my favourites ... we felt very safe and it was paradise .... the hot air balloon at Cappadocia was an amazing experience...

We (family of 6, travelling with elderly and children) did not intend to travel around Turkey due to the recent attacks and unstable situations happening over the past few years in the country. However my flights was delayed by Turkish air and had to forced to stay in Turkey for 5 days. No time to plan for this sudden change, googled and found Anker Travel, served by agent Mehmet and he is the best!! When I'm here, he is like my personal travel guide on Whatsapp. He has answered all my questions, arranged hotel bookings, managed a day tour, airport-hotel transfers (better rates than uber) and handled some last min requests (Turkish bath and shopping trip), and arranged a knowledgeable tour guide (happened to be his wife) for our Ephesus+Pamukkale your. The stay in Turkey turns out to be one of the best thing that ever happened. We have completely changed the impression of the country and people that country is actually quite peaceful and safe, people are very nice and warm. The media has exaggerated the situation and did not give justices to this beautiful country. I will definitely come back again because i think we have missed out some tourist attractions and will use Anker Travel as their rates are not expensive and really reasonable and best of all great service. Hi Asli,How are you? I have had this and was intending to send it, but time slipped away. Hope it may still be useful.
We all had a Great time in your wonderful country and in time Im sure we would like to visit again.
Below is some feedback.
· Tour Guides, in Kusadasi (Mr Gokhan I think? AKA Private Hercules) was exceptional. He rearranged our plans for the few days we were with him, as the original plan covered too much and the original plans had us back track a lot (according to him). We also felt that Hakan in Istanbul was very pleasant and helpful and our guide in Cappadocia (Melika) was amazing. These 3 stood out and really showed their love for your country.
· Husain our driver was outstanding especially in Beshire where we may have been trapped that night as there was nothing to do. He took us out for a drive and he also showed us a Turkish bath something we would never have seen without him. He was amazing through the whole tour and we cant praise him enough for his professionalism and effort in making us feel welcome at all times.
· Konya hotel, central but not the greatest!! The quality of rooms were really poor. a lot of the sites were closed on Monday. but the Tuesday was a free day. We could have done that better and swapped that around.
· Pamukkale food and service was outstanding. The owners were delightful and made our stay there very comfortable. ALL meals were included and were not mentioned on the itinerary. This was an added bonus.
· Hotel in Istanbul central and great. Really enjoyed our stay there.
· Cappadocia accommodation excellent… maybe add the cost of a dinner there as part of the hotel cost if more than one night.
· Prompt response in returning the cost for ballooning. This was you and your team and although we were disappointed on missing out were very surprised on the promptness of the return of our funds.
· Accommodation in Antalya outstanding as well. Loved the location and rooms.
· Your service was OUTSTANDING…. Disappointed we couldn’t meet L

I just wanted to let you know how happy I am that we were able to work together on this massive family vacation. I seriously could not have done this without you. From booking hotels to arranging & rearranging numerous transfers, the vacation progressed smoothly (excluding the air travel, of course!!). Your quick replies and willingness to help out even on late Sunday evening, was truly appreciated by not only me, but my entire family. Everyone highly enjoyed both Athens hotels. The Acropolis Museum was an excellent choice for walking to all attractions, restaurants and metro. And the Radisson Blu Park was a good choice for winding down at the end of the trip.
Again, thank you! I hope to work with you again in the future -- don't worry, I won't be arranging a massive trip like this ever again!! We especially enjoyed our balloon flight on our last day. What a way to end our trip. I think the only piece of business we need with you is how to get reimbursed for one balloon flight ticket since Braden was not able to fly with us due to the balloon company cancelling at the last minute on Friday and not able to fly at all on Saturday due to high winds. Braden unfortunately had to return to Ankara so he could not join us today for our flight.
Thanks again and let me know what arrangements you'll be able to make for the reimbursement.

Dear Mehmet,Thank you for contacting me now that I am back home. I have had 2 separate house guests and a short trip to Vancouver Island since my return; it has been very busy. A third visitor has decided to postpone her visit until September. Otherwise she was expected to arrive in a few days.
This gives me some available time to prepare my response to your request.
I usually do most of my own bookings when I am planning a trip but for this trip, it quickly became apparent that I would need help. I was already using the website "turkeytravelplanner.com" as my main source of information. I had decided to focus my travel in Turkey to Istanbul and "the Turquoise Coast". In the above website, Anker Travel Services is the recommended travel service for the coast and I contacted them with the ideas I was beginning to put together. From then on we worked together to fill in the essentials. However, this was an ongoing relationship. As my trip unfolded, I maintained contact with Mehmet Dagdelen and later Asli Yeniyol (when Mehmet was on vacation). Whenever I needed assistance with bus/ferry/flight services, they were a comforting backup resource to call on. In fact, my trip was a much richer experience because of their expertise.

Greece was a bit of a disappointment after the magnificence of Turkey but if we had not gone I probably would have wondered if we had missed out by not seeing Athens and Delphi. Santorini was lovely but I think we would have enjoyed somewhere on the coast of Turkey at the end of the trip just as well if not better. All of the accommodations, with the exception of the Savoy Hotel, were wonderful. The bed and breakfast in Cappodoccia was exceptional - just lovely and charming.
I know you pulled this trip together at the last minute for me and am truly grateful that you did. It was fantastic.

Thank you for helping us have a wonderful trip in Turkey and Greece!Some of the highlights:
The airport/hotel/port transfers were perfect and on time every time, everywhere; also the rental cars you organized were great and the delivery was very accommodating. These things really made our trip so much easier!
We especially enjoyed the Sokullupasa hotel in Istanbul (excellent breakfast and charming breakfast room and garden); The hotel kindly kept one extra piece of luggage for us until our return on June 21, so we didn't have to drag a carpet we bought at the Grand Bazaar around all over Turkey and Greece.
We appreciated the Ephesus tour and the beautiful room in Kusadasi (I didn't realize how close the hotel was to Anker Travel until the next day when we were on our way to catch the bus to Marmaris at the bus station - I'm sorry we didn't stop by to say hello to you that first evening!)
The Nikos & Takis in Rhodes was beautiful, as well as the Blue Dolphins in Santorini and the Mykonian K in Mykonos. Mykonian K gave us a free upgrade to a larger room with an outdoor spa. Although we were a large group, the Delos tour guide did very well and explained a lot about the entire historical background of Delos.
The En Plo in Santorini was very lovely, but really should only be for people who have rented a car, because it is 4 or 5 kilometers from Oia. Our hosts gave us a free ride into Oia a couple of times (we took the bus from Oia to Fira and got on a boat tour of the volcano crater and Thirassa - lots of fun).
The Acropolis Museum hotel in Athens was conveniently located and the rooms were fine - just tell them to clean the carpets in their entry and lobby. We were very pleased with the Key Tours half-day small group tour of Athens.
I highly recommend the Doupiani House in Kastraki for those going to visit the monasteries in Meteora.
My husband and I are very happy we had such a good travel agent, and would enthusiastically recommend your services.

We just returned home from a wonderful trip to Turkey and Greece. We spent time in Istanbul, had a seven day Greek Island cruise on Crystal Cruise Line and traveled to Cappadocia for three days.
We booked the cruise and the trip to Cappadocia through your company, Anker Travel.
I want you to know that both segments were wonderful. The communications between us and your representatives were very professional, timely and friendly.
The cruise portion was taken care of by Mr. Guclu Yaman. The Cappadocia trip was prepared for by Mr. Mehmet Dagdelen. Both agents did excellent work!
Everything went as planned and was void of any unnecessary events. We especially appreciated all of the timing concerning transfers to and from the hotels and airport, the selection of the hotel in Cappadocia, and the phone contact that was made by Mr. Mehmet to rearrange the hot air balloon ride that had been canceled due to the weather and to check in with us.
We will recommend your company to any of our friends if they are traveling to your part of the world!

Did you miss me? We are now back home in South Africa and the fact that you didn’t hear from me shows what a good job you did in arranging the Turkey / Greece leg of our trip. Thank you very much, all the arrangements went very well and you were spot on with the choice of hotels. We loved Turkey and will be back one day. Istanbul is amazing and the hot air balloon flight over Goreme Valley was the highlight of our whole holiday. I know I used to appreciate feed back when I worked in travel so I will give you a brief opinion on each hotel. But everyone we dealt with was charming, courteous and professional. The only transfer that was not 100% was on arrival in Mykanos when we had to phone them and when they finally arrived, the vehicle was broken so we had to walk to the hotel but the young man did help with our luggage. A car would not have made it through the winding streets – think we were meant to have a mini van of sorts. Anyway the rest were all on time and super efficient. Then all the ferry trips were great with excellent seats – recommend the cabin option too as it was a long day going via Kos to Santorini.
Here are our thoughts on the hotels plus highs / lows
Istanbul, Satan’s Inn Very good location. Small room but lucky to have balcony.
Urgup, Mellker Evi Charming, best shower and lovely breakfast. Enjoyed the day tour and loved the balloon experience. Great guides and meal options.
Ephesus Tour Ozzie was a lovely guide and with the lady driver (forget her name) gave us a really good tour.
Kudadasi, Carina Hotel Great pool deck area but very noisy on a Saturday night with discos / parties all round. Okay for overnight.
Bodrum, El Vino An oasis, afternoon tea & cake served by the pool and great breakfast – could easily have stayed longer.
Santorini, Costa Marina Very nice and Marina a perfect hostess who just wanted us to have an amazing time.
Naxos, Chateau Zevgoli Bit of a climb to reach but charming old house. Not great breakfast – very plain and basic.
Paros / Naoussa, Manos Nice to be away from main port – lovely fishing village atmosphere in Naoussa & best beach across bay at Kolymbithres. Good breakfast.
Mykanos, Carbonaki Nice hotel with splash pool but very small cramped room. Cruise ships in port, very crowded so glad to take trip to Delos. Very good guide so very interesting.
Athens, Acropolis Museum Hotel Perfect location and nice room.
So we certainly have no complaints and thank you again for your attention to our requirements. It was the holiday of a life time for us and I will certainly recommend you to any friends who may travel your way in the future. Just sorry we did not manage to meet you in person.

Hi Asli!It was good tour. I thought I should let you know we were happy with all the arrangements. Both guides were very good. We liked both the Canela Cave Hotel and Ayapam in Pamukkele. Only one which we did not think much of was the one in Kusadasi. Carina. Three floors to lug luggage up. No lift. No help. No water in the room. It was 3 a.m. When we checked in so it was no fun.
Having said that I would like to thank you for a very good tour. Thanks to Nuray too who worked on the itinerary with me from the beginning, tailoring it to our needs. We had a lovely mix of nature, culture, history and some fantastic scenery.
I have given a strong recommendation of your company to a close friend who has her own travel company. Columbus Tours. They are interested in working out tour package for their clients with you.

We're fairly lucky travelers, but it is exceptionally rare that a two-week overseas adventure goes off without one hinderance. I am certain that wouldn't have been the sase without you in the background making sure every "i" was dotted and "t" was crossed. My only regret is that we didn't get a chance to stop by your office the day we left Kusadasi. Next time, though ;).

Hi Ingrid,I had meant to contact you earlier to thank you for organising a great trip for us.
Although we had a few glitches, which you expect on a trip like this, most things went very well.
I thought it might be useful to you if I provided you with some comments on the hotels we stayed at, so here they are:
- Istanbul - Hotel Mina. Charm and an excellent location. Would recommend
- Urgup - Hotel Melekler Evi. Interesting and unusual. Would recommend
- Kusadasi - La Vista. Beautiful Hotel. Quite upmarket with views. Would recommend.
- Bodrum - El Vino. Lovely Hotel (we had upgraded rooms.) Would recommend.
- Marmaris- Anemon. No charm. Small room with twin beds in a touristy area. Nice breakfast though. Would not recommend.
- Fetihye - Alester Yacht Hotel. Lovely hotel and nice view. Would recommend.
- Patmos - Hotel Grikos. More basic than the Turkish hotels, but still nice and better than being in Skala. Would recommend.
- Rhodes - Mediterranean Hotel. Large touristy hotel. OK but nothing special.
- Santorini - Loucas Hotel. Nice room and beautiful view. Our room 149 steps from road! Would recommend.
- Athens - Acropolis Museum Hotel. On busy street. Staff not especially friendly. Room OK. Better location would be in Plaka area.
All tour guides were excellent.
The GPS on the hire car needed updating.
The ferry to Pireus from Santorini was 4 hours late and finally went at 4.40 am, but I guess no one can predict this sort of thing.
All up, a most memorable trip.

We were staying in an apartment just off of Istiklal. Needless to say with the protest in Taxsim we had a very interesting time getting around. It was such a relief to be met at the airport in Izmir by the driver. Everything went very well. I did call and wake someone up one morning when the driver was a little late to pick us up to take us to the airport. He arrived shortly after I hung up the phone.

Safranbolu Hattice Hanim was especially so, we have never stayed in an hotel with so much history. Though Mustafa spoke no English and us no Turkish he showed us around his home with much flair and flourish.

Turkey is a beautiful and fascinating country, we have been continuously mentioning it since we came home nearly 6 months ago – the only problem was that after visiting Turkey, Greece, while being what we expected, could not achieve the same level of fascination for us.
Again, thanks to all for the help, we will happily recommend your services to any we know who are intending to travel over there.
Have a Happy Christmas and an excellent New Year.For a little more detail: the hotel in Istambul [ed. Sokullu Pasa] was comfortable and very well placed for easy, walkable access to the sites. The guides were private and very insightful, the only suggestion would be in Topkapi palace it would be good to get a little more feeling for how they lived, maybe more description of the lifestyle to fill in the details below the magnificent ceilings. The other, more modern palace was a little disappointing after Topkapi! I took advantage of the time on the Bosporus tour to repeatedly go over with the guide the timeline of the different ‘invasions’.
The people everywhere were very welcoming (apple tea everywhere) and the tram transport is easy to use.
The hosts at the Canela cave hotel could not have been better, they literally welcomed us into the kitchen to organise us packed lunches a couple of time; very friendly. The balloon trip cannot be missed – a real fantasy landscape.
Glad we took a few days without tours in both Istanbul and Cappadocia, to be able to walk around. In Cappadocia we hired a car and drove to Ihlara valley, which we walked all the way down and back and then had lunch at Aslan restaurant sitting on the river – this, with the painted churches in the caves high up in the valley walls, was one of the highlights for us.
The only disappointments there were the ‘Turkish nights’ meal/dancing, which we didn’t have planned and seemed expensive for what it was in the end, and the underground tour which seemed a little rushed (a couple of other big tours were right behind us).
Ephesus, was spectacular, we got there at a good time and almost had the place to ourselves.
In Greece the Delphi tour was very good, and, obviously, the Acropolis (we negotiated a guide there), but , again, it’s worth having time to wander around the other sites yourself. The islands were very pretty, but already full of motorbikes, tiny cars and four-wheeled bikes, and this was only just at the start of the holiday season. If you’re in Santorini it’s worth taking a couple of hours to walk along the cliff-side route to Oia, though seems not too many know where the path is! The small private flat we had there had a beautiful view over the caldera – another excellent suggestion of yours!

Yücel, unser Führer, ist ein Schatz: sehr dienstbeflissen, schnell und effizient, gebildet und gut erzogen (ganz wichtig), mit perfekten Deutschkenntnissen. Unbedingt zu empfehlen!
Ilhan unser Fahrer ist hervorragend. Und das ist wichtig; m. E. ist der Fahrer die wichtigste Person, auch wenn die Führer das anders sehen. Aber er garantiert die Sicherheit der Reise, und das ist das A und O für den Veranstalter. Ilhan beherrscht seinen Bus wie im Schlaf, es war immer alles blitzblank, und er tat, was man ihm sagte, vor allem fuhr er vorsichtig und sehr rücksichtsvoll. Auch ihn und seine Dienste kann ich uneingeschränkt empfehlen.
Zu den Hotels: Curkurova war der Hit; ich hatte noch nie ein so schönes und geschmackvolles Hotel. Die Lage ist perfekt für das Museum und zum Bummeln, das Personal sehr besorgt, das Essen hervorragend. Sie sollten sich diese Destination merken für andere Gruppen, auch wenn es teuer ist dort zu wohnen.
Asikoglou in Bogazkale können wir vergessen, das Hotel das Geld nicht wert. Das nächste Mal gehen wir nach Corum, dort gibt es ein neues sehr gutes Hotel Anitta (5 Sterne). Das alles ist nicht Ihre Schuld; ich habe mir den Platz schließlich selbst ausgesucht. Aus Fehlern kann man lernen.
Die Hilton in Adana und Kayseri sind perfekt, makelloser Service, schöne Zimmer, toller Blick. Ähnliches gilt für das Anemon in Malatya, auch wenn der Blick nichts hergibt (Baustellen und Autobahn); aber das Hotel ist sehr gut und die Zimmer riesig.
Das Hilton Garden Inn in Urfa geht so; die Zimmer sind gut, das Hotel nagelneu. Aber das Essen war nicht besonders, bestenfalls durchschnittlich, das Personal am Empfang hätte ich würgen können, und in den Zimmer funktiionierte einiges nicht, z. B. die Klimaanlage bei knapp 30 Grad.
Es gibt andere Hotels in Urfa: z. B. Dedeman, oder aber El Ruhta, direkt bei der Zitadelle und bei den Moscheen. Sieht gut aus, ich habe es mir aber nicht von innen ansehen können.
Aber das allles soll keine Kritik sein, sondern nützliche Informationen fürs nächste Mal. Denn die Reise war wunderbar, alle waren begeistert, und wir hatten Glück mit dem Wetter und mit dem Krieg in Syrien. (Harran machen wir dann das nächste Mal).

Thanks for taking care of this and arranging for the refund. We were just not up to this excursion the day prior to flying home. As it turned out, we had a long delay in New York and so it took over 24 hours to get home. Glad we made the day prior an easier day.
I also want to take this opportunity to tell you what an excellent guide you were able to arrange for us in Istanbul. While we were disappointed that we didn’t have a guide waiting for us at the appointed time, we could not have asked for a better guide than Ahmet Saglam. He was extremely knowledgeable, accommodating, and personable. But what makes him special is his genuine enthusiasm for Turkey, and his care about his customers. He took great care with us and went the extra distance to help us with a few requests. Marc and I really enjoyed our time with him.
Ceyda Baydur was also an excellent guide and brought Ephesus to life for us. We will especially remember the unbelieveable lunch we had at an ‘out-of-the-way’ restaurant of Turkish home cooking. Eating a great meal outdoors was an event in itself.

Ik wilde U heel erg hartelijk danken voor de geweldige service. Ik was zo verwend hoe U het allemaal zo goed geregeld hadden, wij hebben een fantastische tijd gehad.
· Het vliegen van Istanbul naar Izmir was een prima idee, zo veel beter dan rijden
· De Rental car was allemaal prima.
· Efese is echt geweldig, wat een byzondere archeologische opgraving.
· De trip naar Samos verliep prima, ferry no problem en het hotel in Samos was een enorm positieve verrassing, wat een byzonder hotel en het moderne design was helemaal geweldig. Prima kwaliteit. We konden zo in de haven een auto huren en hebben veel van het eiland gezien.
· De laatste nacht in Kismet hotel was prima, heel byzonder hotel met veel historie. Ook Korumar was prima kwaliteit. U heeft precies aangevoeld wat voor soort kwaliteit hotels wij van houden.
· In alle 3 de hotels hadden we de beste kamers, een free upgrade in Samos een de hoek kamer met fantastisch uitzicht over zee in Kismet. Dat had U echt prima geregeld.
· U heeft ons helemaal goed aangevoeld wat wij graag wilden doen en een prima programma gemaakt.
We hebben in Efese ook nog een avond mee gemaakt van het Izmir Music Festival met classical music voor de Celsus library, wat een ervaring. Wij kregen deze tip van de owners van Café St John in Selcuk.

At long last we have had time to reflect on our wonderful holiday and give you some feedback.
The organisation overall was extremely good. We were met on time at Mardin airport by Omer and Achmed with an up to date, air-conditioned coach. Omer proved to be an excellent and knowledgable guide and Achmed a safe and dependable driver.
The hotels were extremely good, the only reservation being the first one which was further from Mardin than we would have liked, almost 70km, and meant we spent longer in the coach driving from one site to another and then back to the hotel. The Hotel in Cappadochia was our favourite as the cave rooms provided a unique experience.
With regard to the itinerary we would recommend that anyone visiting the region should see the Ataturk dam and the Zeugma Mosaics which were both wonderful . We would not recommend visiting Diyabakir as it involves a long drive, the walls are difficult and dangerous for Senior Citizens to climb, and the main mosque is closed to visitors due to the restoration. Due to thunderstorms we were forced to abandon the journey up Mt Nemrut as it was too hazardous to continue which was our only disappointment. All the other sites on our itinerary were extremely interesting and varied as they included churches, monasteries, mosques, markets, ancient excavations at Urfa, a necropolis, an underground city, and cave dwellings. There was something for everyone and no time to get bored with seeing too much of the same thing. Because it provided so many contrasts we found it equally fascinating as the Aegean Tour we made some years ago.

I wanted to take a moment to thank you for making our recent trip to Turkey and Greece the best vacation ever. Before I contacted you, I had spent countless hours trying to make sense of the ferry maps and schedules between Turkey and the Greek islands. Not only did you recommend the perfect itinerary for our Kusadasi-Samos-Syros-Mykonos-Santorini-Athens adventure, you scheduled reliable transfers every step of the way. You also arranged the BEST TOUR GUIDE EVER for Ephesus. I cannot say enough good things about Gokhan Baydur! Gokhan has to know more than most PhD's about Greco-Roman and Ottoman history, and it's evident that he truly enjoys the subject matter and his job. We learned so much from him and enjoyed every moment as well. Over and above his tour guide responsibilities, one thing we absolutely appreciated about Gokhan was that he took us to lunch at a restaurant that was NOT a tourist trap; rather it was a delicious local spot that he himself enjoys. That meant a lot to us.
Gokhan also took us to the Carpetium, and I'm so glad we went! I have to admit that we were reluctant at first because we had purchased a rug in Istanbul, but Gokhan assured us that there would be no pressure to buy and that we'd benefit from seeing what went into the crafting of our rug. He was right. Ashley provided a fascinating tour and demonstrated the rug-making process; it was an unforgettable experience. If I had one recommendation for you it would be to tell more of your clients about the Carpetium before they travel to the area. I truly wish I'd known about the non-for-profit Carpetium because I definitely would have waited to buy my rug (and I'm sure we would have gotten a better price). I have a feeling I'll be back when it's time to furnish my next home! :)

Absolutely every plan you made happened like clockwork! Thanks to you we had a wonderful vacation and learned a lot, especially about Turkey. Ufuk was a WONDERFUL guide and Ulice a real professional driver. Ufuk was knowledgeable and open about talking about Turkey's history and present circumstances in the world. As Americans we don't always get from our media a clear picture of the Turkish perspective. Ufuk was a real ambassador for his country!
All the hotels in Turkey were very good. On Samos, however, it was clear that the hotel is in grave financial trouble. Things are not being properly maintained and they are scrimping on services. Most disappointing was the fact that the air conditioner didn't work and neither did the Wi-Fi. It's also quite far from town. The hotel in Athens was fine. We had no real complaints about anything, but I thought you would like this feedback.

Judy and I are back home, getting back to normal. Just wanted to let you know that our arrangements in Istanbul were terrific. Thanks to our tour guide Serhat we had two beautiful and most memorable days possible.
He was grand, Istanbul is a marvelous place and he make it even better.
Serhat was there to go the extra mile for us and we truly appreciated it. We spent close to 11-12 hours together on the 18th and we learned so much abt the city and its history and people. Our evening Turkish evening was outstanding, surely we went to places we would never of found or gone to.
Overall it was just a great experience!! Needless to say we would highly recommend Serhat to everyone. Thanks for all your time and efforts in putting this together for us.

We also appreciated your meticulous and thoughtful planning. Hotels were well chosen; all excellent. Guides and drivers helpful, experienced and flexible, prepared to amend the itinerary (on one occasion) to the requirements of three elderly, and by then tired, people. Busses and cars were clean and comfortable, our luggage handled and packed with care.
Turkey proved to be full of charming and fulfilling surprises, and high as my expectations were, it completely surpassed them. We three can’t wait to get back again next year and you may depend on it that you will be the first to be advised of our dates and requested to design our second visit for us.

Home again after a wonderful 34 days in Europe. Arrangements you made for the 13 days we spent in Greece & Turkey were excellent. These included periods of free time interspersed with the tours that worked well. Your suggestion of two days on the Island of Chios on route from Athens to Cesme, renting a car and exploring the island as we wished, worked out very well. The many guides on the tours you arranged were professional and knowledgeable. If we have to choose a number one it would be Mustafa Askın at Troy. One minor improvement that could have been arranged was 26th July when we traveled from Selcuk to Canakkale with H. F. Travel. Our schedule mentioned only “swimming break on route when available”. This didn’t happen but we stopped at Pergamum where the other 3 people in the bus had tickets for the tour, including lunch. We purchased tickets from the guide and enjoyed the experience. Had we not done so we would have had to wait doing nothing. We were impressed with our first day in Turkey. The voucher for this day lists our guide as Gokhan Baydur. We cannot remember the names of the guide and driver who met us at Port Cesme but they were both good company. The 2.5 hour drive to Selcuk, with a confident and safe driver seemed to pass quickly with so much talk. Lunch in the Selcuk market, and tours of the Virgin Mary House and Ephesus were all memorable. At the end of the day they delivered us to Hotel Kalehan, a beautiful family operated establishment that we would highly recommend. Please thank the guide and driver for looking after us so well. Gallipoli was very moving particularly as a friend of John’s family (now long deceased) was a survivor of the 1915 campaign. Istanbul was marvelous and our two guides very helpful. We wish to congratulate you on the way you compiled our itinerary and your efficient manner in corresponding with us through the many emails. Thank you.

I thought you would like to know how it all turned out. But first let me thank you for making the last minute flight arrangements from Izmir to Istanbul. I have forgotten our driver's name, but she drove us more than once and she was great. She was always on time, very courteous and very skillful.
All the arrangements in Istanbul went well with one mild exception. Our guide on the second day took us to all the central sites and did it well. At the end of the day he asked us if we would mind going to a carpet shop because his agency really wanted him to take us there. We liked him and didn't want to get him in trouble, so we reluctantly agreed. We did not want to go, we had no intention of buying a carpet, but we went to please him. I felt very pressured to go and was not happy with the shop. The salesman did not offer us any refreshment and gave a very long sales presentation. When we finally got out of there, we were near the Grand Bazaar and I assumed it was part of the tour. The guide thought he was finished for the day and hadn't planned to take us there. He did take us and was very gracious about it. I know the agency gets a commission on the rugs that are sold during its tours but was upset that I almost missed the experience of the Grand Bazaar due to a carpet sales pitch. That's my only complaint.
We enjoyed the whole experience in Kusadasi. When I realized we could have stayed in a hotel overlooking the sea I was sad for a moment until I experienced the Karvanserey. I have written a review of it for Travel Advisor. It was a very good choice for us as it was full of history and mystery (and my own cat!). The staff was wonderful. Our guides each day were very good. I wish the guide to Ephesus knew more about the Christian history of St. Paul. But he was very knowledgeable about the history and architecture of the places. He took us to the Basilica of St. John and to Mary's house where we were able to go to Mass.
So, again, thank you for all your arrangements. I hope we can visit Kusadasi again.

My husband and I have returned from our holiday in Samos and Turkey. Many thanks to you for your efficient planning and attention to the details of our trip to Pythagorio! Everything went beautifully, and we loved it!! There are two minor things that I might mention, not complaints at all, but just little things that you might consider for your future patrons. The breakfast at Kayhanbey began at 7:30, and we had to be at the dock at 7:30. Even though we mentioned it at the desk when we checked in, we were unable to get breakfast at the hotel. However, we were able to pick up breakfast near the dock before boarding the ferry, so no problem. The other minor detail was in knowing that we needed to walk a couple or so blocks in Vathi to reach the square where we could get a taxi. Again, these are not complaints and were not problems for us, just little details that we thought you might want to share with future clients. We will definitely recommend you to anyone who may be visiting Turkey or Samos!
Also, we loved your country, our tour there, and the many people we met throughout our travels. We hope to return to Turkey someday.

Just a note to say hello and again thank you for everything you did for us on our trip through Turkey, all the arrangements you made, the ferry schedules you checked, and checked, and checked, the transportation you booked both ferry and ground. You are really incredible! What an asset you are to the company.
As we look back on the three months of travel, our highlights are Venice, the Tuscan countryside, and TURKEY!
You live in a wonderful, exciting country. It is very, very "civilized" with such history and culture The people that we met and those in which we came in contact were friendly, very nice and helpful, I plan to return in the next few years with John, if we are so lucky. This next time we will stay at least a month!
Reflections upon the Turkey Experience:
Some things I would change , some things I would do the same:
(1) I would never, ever, take the ferry "Cesme" from Ancona, Italy to Cesme, Turkey again - It wasn't the length of the voyage that was the problem. That ship was really old and bad. During the night some kind of black soot/grainy stuff came out of the air conditioning. it was all over us, in the bed, on the pillows, in my hair, and I am sure that I was breathing this stuff all night long. Who knows what it was - perhaps even some kind of toxic material. The bathroom was right out of a troop ship according to John who was in the military. The toilet was loose off the floor and it was dangerous! I got them to chage the air filter on the second day and rebolt the toilet to the floor. That ferry needs to be "retired" ....the other ferries (Denizline) were much better accommodations. the room was like a very nice hotel room. That I would repeat.
(2) Because the Cesme ferry was four to five hours late (thank goodness Mustafa waited for us patiently for us) and we really missed some important places along the way from Cesme to Bodrum. We will repeat that portion of Turkey in the near future and have some wonderful places to see. We look forward to it.
(3) I would stay at El Vino, Bodrum for a week if possible. What a wonderful place, and Deniz was sensational as hotel manager. The well thought out hotel architecture was beautiful and the upper deck dining overlooking the city was lovely. Our room (honeymoon suite) was so comfortable - I really wanted to stay for a much longer time. Bodrum is a good city, a working city with lots of things to see and do. Our transportation problems (a one hour late taxi that left us little time to get to the ferry - and then the driver going to the airport with me insisting that he was making a mistake - I was in the back saying "no, no, no" over and over....saying ferry Denizline over and over....trying to get him to stop going in the wrong direction was pretty bad....and we almost missed the ferry after all that work to book the Denizline accommodation etc....it was bad....they had wrong instructions....and they were very late at pick up....this was really bad! - that was the only time I gave no "thanks for service" tip)
(4) The hotel Uyan in Istanbul was terrific and what a location. We did have the "honeymoon suite" which was located at the very top corner of the hotel, with wonderful windows and a balcony. It was the most perfect and romantic of all the places we stayed in three months. I looked at three other rooms just to see that the hotel had similar level of accommodations - they weren't as good as ours, but they were clean, nice and updated. The hotel location just a block off of the most important avenue to the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia, and the Palace makes it as good as the Four Seasons at the end of the street (without the excessive cost). Dining: the hotel breakfasts were excellent. The restaurant "Seven Dreams" right next door was outstanding. It was a great little street with very friendly business owners, there are several good little stores for fruit, drinks, and other small things within - street fruit vendors pushing carts had excellent quality and selection (you can tell that we eat a lot of fruit) There were many small outdoor restaurants that were excellent as well as a small bazaar in the area with traditional dancing and food. The predictable more tourist oriented restaurants were more expensive, but of outstanding quality. I went out on some streets alone at night (early) to do some last minute shopping and it was very safe. I plan to stay there again for a week at least. We walked everywhere from Suleymaniye Cami, the University of Istanbul, the two level Roman Aqueduct, took public transportation to the Spice Bazaar....we had so much fun...saw some poverty like parts of the city as well. The full day tour was excellent and our guide was exceptional; the half day tour was adequate but could have been much better in many ways.
(5) We had been warned against renting and driving a car in Turkey, but after seeing the roads, the towns, the cities the helpful people, I would rent a car and drive the coastal towns. I would design a trip something like this: Travel from Piraeus (Athens) via ferry to Kos - cross over to Bodrum....or I would go to Cypress, Rhodes, Marmaris and then up and down the coast. Probably would leave the car at Bodrum after spending a good amount of time in your coastal area, and take the ferry to Istanbul. Stay at least a week. I would never drive in Istanbul, however!!! I might go from Itanbul to some other country. I will ask you what your suggestions are when we decide to come back.
(6) We enjoyed our stay in Rhodes at the Mediterranean or whatever that hotel was called. Excellent walking distance into the walled city, and the beaches were nice (but the water was freezing - I couldn't believe how many people were swimming) and the restaurants in the neighborhood - sitting outside on those hot summer nights - could not have been better. The hotel was so large that it was more "impersonal" - but that was to be expected. I would not stay anywhere else! I really don't expect to find special places in every single country or city that we visit, but we didn't really get to "know" the people in Rhodes in the same way as we did at some of the smaller hotels like El Vino, or Uyan, or even on the Denizline Ferry.
Well, as you can see, I am so happy to have come to your country. I am so happy to have met you, Ceyda. I hope if you change your job to another company, you will let me know. I would like to keep track of your successful career. i will always recommend both you and Anker Travel to anyone thinking thay may be visiting Turkey.
P.S. I loved your selection of wine that was waiting for us in Istanbul, I had one small glass every evening before we went out for dinner and it lasted through Istanbul and I was able to bring it on to the ferry for the trip Istanbul to Bodrum. You are very thoughtful!

Thank you very much for helping Dan and me to arrange our wonderful vacation! You were always so helpful and understanding.
Dan and I thought you might like to know that the rest of our trip went smoothly, and we have arrived home safely. We have some feedback on the various hotels, both those that you arranged and also those that we picked ourselves. Perhaps this will be useful to you in the future.
Istanbul - Hotel Armada. I made this arrangement myself before I contacted you. This was a reasonably priced and completely excellent hotel just inside the walls of the old city in easy walking distance of Hagia Sophia, Topkapi, and the Blue Mosque, as well as the train to/from the airport and other places. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.
Canakkale - Kervanseray. Your choice, and a good one. The people there were great. It was a bit hard to find. I learned that I should print google maps for each hotel before I leave home.
Kusadasi. The Villa Konak was just a wonderful place to stay (once we found it!!). Mr. Kaya and his staff were great. They made a point of getting all the visitors to meet one another at teatime, and this was a delightful (and unexpected) part of our trip. Kaya lent me one of his own computers while we were there! This was really "above and beyond" what was necessary. We liked Kusadasi very much. I'd rather spend an extra night here for the additional archaeological sites than the night in Bergama.
Bodrum - Hotel El Vino. This was a little far out of town, which surprised us. However, what a marvelous place! It was such a haven of peacefulness and still in walking distance of the downtown. Our balcony was surrounded with bougainvilleas and with a great view of the lovely gardens and of the town. It was truly special. The one thing that might have made it a bit better would have been if someone on the premises knew a little more English. Both the hotel and the town were quite delightful.
Rhodes - St. Nikolis. This was one that I chose, and I don't think you had used it before. Please allow me to recommend it to you wholeheartedly. The location was within the walls of the Old City but in a quiet corner, and the roof terrace had a great view of the Old City and the sea beyond. Our room was great. Breakfast included fresh loquats from the trees in their garden. Marianne was a most friendly and helpful hostess. She helped us plan our three days in Rhodes over the Easter weekend to best advantage. We'd stay there again in a heartbeat. I hope you will feel free to recommend them to other people as well.
Santorini - Anteliz Hotel & Apartments. I made this arrangement before I contacted you, and it was a lovely place. It's just outside of the town, which made it a bit quieter, but still really very close to town, an easy walk. The rooms were very nice (included a kitchenette); the pool and terrace were lovely; and the view couldn't be beat. I don't know if you use them or not, but if not, you might want to.
I guess that's about it. Again, Dan and I thank you very much for all your help. We especially enjoyed having a chance to meet you in person when we were in Kusadasi.

I thought I would just let you know that the Hotel Aydinlar which you arranged for us near Nusaybin worked very well. The rooms were very acceptable, and it had an excellent restaurant - mainly used by truck drivers as it is essentially a motel on the Iraq highway - with the best service we encountered anywhere during the trip. Jordan and I got back from our honeymoon a couple days ago. We wanted to thank-you again for planning such a great trip for us. Everything was so well thought out and we enjoyed every minute of it. It was nice to see you while in Kusadasi, and finally put a face to the name.

I just want to give a short testimonial on my recent trip to Turkey and Greece with my family (group of 5), which was arranged by Anker Travel. Overall, I was very satisfied with the excellent service given by Anker Travel. Kusadasi: We arrived in Istanbul from Indonesia, then after checking out the luggages, we had to take another flight to Izmir. The Istanbul-Izmir tickets were provided by Anker Travel in the form of electronic ticket. After landing at the Izmir airport, we were picked up by a driver using a minivan, which was perfect for 5 people. By the time we got to the hotel Derici in Kusadasi, it was already almost midnight. The hotel was clean and located very strategically. Our program in Kusadasi started the following day. Anker Travel provided us with a tour guide named ..., complete with a minivan and a driver. He's a very knowledgable, passionate and friendly guide, I would say the best that we had during our entire trip. Since most that we saw in Kusadasi were ruins, having a tour guide definitely gave us a much more understanding about the history. But his knowledge was not limited to the history of Turkey, we could also learn about Turkey's economics, politics, demographics, and even its endemic plants. On top of that we found that he was also a very good singer, and probably someday can become the next Turkish Idol. He invited us to his regular performance in a comfy little bar in Kusadasi called Oriental Bar. During our 4 nights stay in Kusadasi, Anker Travel took us to see Artemis Temple, Ephesus, House of Mary, St. John Basilica, Pamukkale & Hierapolis, Priene, Miletus, & Didyma. They also took us to see ceramics, carpet factory, and leatherware outlet. Though these places felt like one of those tourist traps, we didn't mind going there, since it gave us a chance to see with our own eyes how hard it is to make a hand woven silk carpets. We actually got ourselves a very nice Turkish carpet for our living room back at home. Mykonos: Anker Travel arranged a trip to Mykonos by ferry from Kusadasi. We had to make a stop at Samos, the birthplace of Pythagoras, for a few hours. So we had time to walk around the downtown in Samos. We arrived in Mykonos at night, and someone had already waited us at the port to transport us to the hotel Semeli. Since we could wander around in Mykonos by ourselves, no tour guide was needed. Hotel Semeli was definitely the best hotel that we had during our entire trip. My room has an excellent view, was spacious, very clean, and the breakfast was excellent. Santorini: We also took ferry to go from Mykonos to Santorini, with a transit in Naxos. On the ferry from Mykonos to Naxos, to our surprise Anker Travel gave us business class seats. As usual, we were picked up at Santorini port, and transport us to Ira Hotel in Firostefani. The view from the hotel was superb, the room was OK. The only thing about the room that I didn't like was that there was a little weird smell in the room when we first came in, but it was gone after we spent a night. And one more thing, there were no restaurant around our hotel, so he had to walk about 20 minutes to get to Fira. But that's fine with me since I specifically mentioned to .... when she booked the hotel that I didn't mind staying in Firostefani, since it's cheaper than Fira. Athens: The most painful ferry ride experience was the one from Santorini to Pireaus port in Athens, because it was eight hours ride without transit. And the ferry was packed. Moreover, we were supposed to be picked up at Pireaus port, but somehow the driver didn't show up and we had to take taxi instead. Lucky for us the taxi driver was willing to fit 5 people into the taxi so that we didn't have to take two cabs. Anker Travel considerately refund the transport cost. We stayed at Adrian Hotel, which was a small and clean hotel located at Plaka, where you can see Acropolis showered with lights at night. On the following day, a tour guide picked us up at the hotel. Her name was .... She was very passionate and knowledgable about Greek history. Too bad we only had one day in Athens. Anker Travel provided us with a big pink luxurious bus, which I thought was cute. By the way, Anker Travel also helped us out with our Turkish visa. There was a major mistake done by the Turkish Embassy in Jakarta when issuing the visa; therefore, one of us had to apply for another Turkish visa in Athens. With the help from ...., we managed to get the visa on time. Istanbul: We took airplane to go from Athens to Istanbul. This time the tour guide, .... , picked us at the airport. Since we arrived in the morning, he took us straight to the day tour after dropping our luggages at Hotel Mina located in Sultanahmet. Mina Hotel was a clean hotel with quite a big bathroom (for European standard), and the location can't be more strategic. There were so many things that we could see and learn in Istanbul. The only thing that I have to comment was that we felt that our guide, wasn't too passionate in explaining things. We felt that he could have explained more about lots of things. I guess we had quite a high standard after having ... as our guide in Kusadasi and Athens. One more thing that we were quite dissapointed at was the 1001 Night Sultana Show. We thought that the show was very cheesy, even for tourists. We ended up left early, and called it a night. Other than those, we had an excellent experience in Istanbul (despite the cold and wet weather). Anker Travel had been very helpful from the beginning until the end of our trip. I would definitely recommend Anker Travel to our friends who are interested in visiting Turkey and Greece. Thanks, Omar

All our ferry connections and plane trips worked out great without any hitches. We were very busy and saw some incredible sights. Our tour guides, Hediye in Kusadasi and Irfan in Capppadocia were wonderful. They were both so knowledgeable and we really enjoyed our tours with them. My favorite part of the trip was Cappadocia. Hello .... I am back home. About the trip ...it was really nice , your country is beautiful and a lot of nice things to see and do, Greece as well is a great country, it was everything fine, althought I made most long trip between Kusadasi and the Islands, when I was back to Kusadasi I was exausted and I entered in a hotel to take a shower and sleep fews hours. The hotel in Mykonos - Eva is really nice place, clean, good place, view, reception, in Santorini - Margarita is a simple one, clean , people there nice , but hotel it just ok and the hotel in Kusadasi , nice location but I believe a long time ago it was a nice 3 stars ...nowdays ...not good , and in Istanbul I stayed in Apricot Hotel very nice place, people, location, around Arrasta Bazaar, clean, good breakfast in the roof... We could not enjoy the hotels along the coast

Dear Ingrid, I just wanted to write and say what a delightful time we had on our recent trip to the Greek Islands and Turkey. We really loved everywhere we went on the itinerary you helped develop, everyone we met was very friendly and most helpful when we were looking for places and helped us learn some Turkish along the way. Out of the 7 countries we have travelled to over the last few months, Turkey was by far our favourite and we have decided we will definitely return in a couple of years (once we have saved enough again!). The only disappointment was that the hotels along the Turkish coast were fabulous, but due to our itinerary we were unable to enjoy them. We didn't arrive until early evening each day and then we were on the road after breakfast again. We felt that we could have had accommodation of a lower star level due to our time constraints. The other main thing was that there was no map in the rental vehicle and that the vouchers had no addresses for the hotels. I had written up an itinerary for our entire trip and included addresses and contact numbers for each hotel for our family and friends to contact us if necessary as we were away for some months, so we were able to use that. Otherwise, we would have had some trouble. But overall, it was fabulous, it all flowed very smoothly and we just wanted to say thank you very much for helping us have a fabulous time. We are back and settled and can now tell you about our trip.
Everything was perfect. Every arrangement you (Anker travel) made for us was executed on time and accurately. The guides were expert, professional, and fun to be with. The hotels were excellent and exactly what we desired. Furthermore, all of the hotels were exactly where we desired to facilitate easy access to the sites and activities we wanted. Our car rental went fine and we had absolutely no problem driving through Turkey (1000 Km and not stopped at a single speed trap).
Turkey was absolutely wonderful. We saw amazing and interesting things. The Turkish people are probably the nicest and most friendly we have ever met as tourists. When we return to Turkey (next year we hope) we will deffinately contact you and Anker Travel to arrange our trip.

Het was bij aankomst in België toch wel weer even wennen hoor, aan de temperatuur (nachtvorst) maar ook aan het ander soort leven. Het leven in Turkije leek me rustiger, socialer dan hier. Dear Ingrid, Just a quick note to say that I have arrived home safe and sound. Thank you for all your help in getting my ticket from Cesme to Brindisi. The ferry was just fine. I joined the queue to get onto the ferry at 6.00am and was about the 40th car. Getting through all the formalities was quick and the ferry left 15min late. The service and cabin were just what the doctor ordered. Going through the Corinth Canal was awe inspiring. Getting out in Italy was fine. They just waved me on. I spent the night in Bari and then got to home very late on the Sunday night Monday morning. So home safe and sound. Once again thank you for your help and I am planning to go back so I will contact you. Yours

Dear Ingrid, Thank you so much for your help with our plans to Turkey. When we arrived, we went to pick up our intercity tickets from Turkish Airlines and they were there waiting for us. The hotel reservation in Pumakkale was also arranged to our liking. You did everything just the way we wanted it done in a timely manner. I would willingly recommend you and your services to anyone who needs help with internet reservations. You saved us a lot of money. The airline tickets were much more expensive in the USA because the airline charges all kinds of extra fees for delivery to the USA.
