A visit to the imposing Palace of Knossos, also known as the Palace of Minos, has a very long history of human habitation, beginning with the founding of the first Neolithic settlement in around 7000 BC. Knossos was discovered by the British Archaeologist Evans in 1900, who with his long persistent excavations managed to shed light to the great Palace of King Minos and its magnificent Civilization. The Palace of Knossos is famous throughout the world, thanks to its labyrinth and the myth of the Minotaur.
After our visit to Knossos we drive to Peza, a small village whe-re you will have the opportunity to taste some real Cretan flavors, li-keseveral kinds of wine from this area and “mezedes” li-keolives and “dako’s”. Here you can learn all about grape and olive harvesting and the production of wines and olive oil. As you probably know this is one of the most important earnings for Crete.
At the end of this ancient Greek culture excursion we will visit the center of Heraklion : wander around of city, see the Venetian buildings and fortress, the impressive Cathedral, the fountains at the Lion square…

The Participants must be able to walk long distances over uneven and cobblestone surface under the sun. Therefore bringing Comfortable footwear and clothes, hat, sun cream and sun glasses are recommended.
Winters in some regions of Greece can be quite cold. Hence appropriate clothes are recommended.
